Dr. Marcuard achieved his medical degree from University Medical School in Zurich, Switzerland in 1977. He completed his residency at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan in 1981 and continued there for his fellowship, which he completed in 1983.
In 1983, he was appointed Assistant Professor of Medicine at East Carolina University School of Medicine here in Greenville, North Carolina and continued his appointment there through 1995, becoming Chief, Section of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition.
In 1995, Dr. Marcuard entered into a private group practice as the President and founder of Carolina Physicians and Carolina Research Center. He decided to pursue a solo-practice, and 2005, he founded Carolina Digestive Diseases, where he practices today.
Dr. Marcuard has a large and loyal patient base, and is known for his compassion in patient care and his superior skills and knowledge in the gastroenterology field.
Dr. Marcuard is board certified with the American Board of Internal Medicine and with the American Board of Gastroenterology.
